Jammu-Srinagar Route to Get Third Vande Bharat Express Soon; Railways Approves Key Stoppage at Udhampur: Dr. Jitendra Singh
JAMMU: In a major boost to regional connectivity and passenger convenience across Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced on Friday that a third Vande Bharat Express will soon be rolled out on the Jammu-Srinagar corridor.
In a detailed video address, Dr. Singh also confirmed that the Ministry of Railways has formally sanctioned a scheduled stoppage at Udhampur railway station, addressing a longstanding public demand from the local populace.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Dr. Singh noted that the railway connectivity landscape in the Union Territory has witnessed a historic transformation over the past decade.

- Decades of Stagnation Ended: Following the commissioning of the Jammu railway station in 1972, the expansion of the rail network into the hinterland remained stalled for nearly five decades before gathering rapid momentum in recent years.
- Expansive Rail Network: Connectivity was systematically expanded from Kathua up through Udhampur, eventually overcoming daunting Himalayan topography to link directly into the Kashmir Valley.
