Crime Branch Jammu Chargesheets Couple for Duping Job Seekers with Forged Government Appointment Orders
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) concludes probe in FIR 75/2023, presenting forensic evidence before the Railway Magistrate against a Kacchi Chawni-based duo.
Jammu: In a major breakthrough against employment scams operating in the region, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Jammu has submitted a comprehensive chargesheet before the Court of the Ld. Railway Magistrate, Jammu, against a married couple accused of running an illicit recruitment racket and defrauding families under the guise of providing government jobs.
The legal action stems from FIR No. 75/2023, registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW), Jammu. The formal chargesheet has been presented against Jameel Anjum, son of Nasir Ahmed Mir, and his wife, Sana Mir, both residents of Narania Mohalla, Kacchi Chawni, Jammu.
Case Dossier: Anatomy of the Racket
- Accused Persons: Jameel Anjum and Sana Mir (Residents of Kacchi Chawni, Jammu).
- Fraud Sums: Rs 15,00,000 extracted from Naresh Kumar and Rs 3,19,000 from Rajesh Kumar (Total: Rs 18.19 Lakh).
- Modus Operandi: Issuing counterfeit government appointment and departmental adjustment orders in exchange for illicit payments.
- Forensic Corroboration: Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Jammu confirmed the documents presented as genuine recruitment papers were forged.
According to the prosecution records, the probe was set into motion following written complaints filed by Naresh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar. The complainants stated that the accused assured them secured public sector employment for their children in exchange for monetary consideration. Trusting these assurances, the victims paid Rs 15 lakh and Rs 3.19 lakh, respectively, following which they were handed fabricated appointment letters and adjustment paperwork.
During the sustained investigation led by the EOW, official documents seized from the possession of the accused were dispatched to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Jammu. The scientific examination confirmed that Jameel Anjum had forged the seals, signatures, and document templates, subsequently passing them off as genuine government instruments to dishonestly induce the victims.
With the allegations substantiated through oral testimonies, recovered physical evidence, and forensic backing, the investigation concluded with the submission of the chargesheet alongside a list of prosecution witnesses and seized materials for judicial adjudication.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Crime Branch EOW Jammu, Faisal Qureshi, cautioned the public against falling prey to fraudulent agents claiming to possess discretionary quotas or backdoor channels for government employment.
