VADODARA: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid foundation stones, inaugurated, and dedicated to the Nation critical development initiatives exceeding ₹35,000 Crore in Vadodara, Gujarat. Addressing a massive gathering comprising citizens and cross-sectoral professionals at the Maharaja Sayajirao University ground, the Prime Minister commended the public’s vibrant spirit of development and national service.

Dedicated Freight Corridor: The Backbone of Commerce

Outlining the ‘Saptadhara’ (seven streams) resolution first unveiled at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi underlined the urgent imperative for swift, synchronized connectivity via the PM Gati Shakti framework. Celebrating the historic completion of the 2,800-kilometer Dedicated Freight Corridor, he hailed Vadodara—home to the pioneering Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya—as the symbolic anchor where final critical linkages converged.

Detailing the structural leap accomplished post-2014, the Prime Minister demonstrated how the twin Eastern and Western Freight Corridors have segregated passenger lines from heavy goods transit. Over 430 cargo trains now operate daily, shrinking transit runs that previously took 30 hours by road into concise 10-to-12-hour schedules, cutting fuel consumption, slashing logistics expenses, and conserving the environment.

Empowering Agricultural Supply Chains & Port Connectivity

The logistics transformation brings profound gains to the agrarian economy. Perishable agri-produce—including delicate seasonal blooms, fruits, and fresh produce cultivated by farmers across Eastern and Western belts—now moves swiftly to metropolitan mandis without spoilage.

Highlighting an operational milestone, the Prime Minister noted the seamless run of a double-stack container freight train linking JNPT Port in Mumbai directly to Vadodara. The single multimodal service transported volumes equivalent to more than 250 heavy haulage trucks in one seamless rail passage.

Rail Expansion in Tribal Belts & Historic Rail Modernization

Reiterating his government’s resolve to bring isolated areas into the mainstream, Shri Modi celebrated expanding rail coverage across the tribal hinterlands of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, spotlighting services benefiting travelers in Chhota Udepur and Alirajpur.

Supported by a record-setting railway budget surpassing ₹2.75 lakh crore, the infrastructure overhaul operates as an economic accelerator. He observed that constructing affordable housing, upgrading maritime ports, and expanding cross-country pipeline grids naturally stimulates MSME clusters and generates widespread employment.

“From Chip to Ship”: The Indigenous Manufacturing Revolution

Tracing Vadodara’s century-and-a-half evolution from textiles to petrochemicals and its recent prominence as an MSME hub, the Prime Minister celebrated the city as the launchpad for India’s first domestically manufactured military transport aircraft, the C-295.

On the rail rolling stock front, India has transitioned into a global manufacturing export engine, rolling out over 50,000 modern coaches and inducting nearly 2.5 lakh wagons since 2014. Parallel domestic milestones in solar PV module manufacturing—reaching 200 GW capacity—alongside initiatives like the Kadana Dam floating solar plant and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana have turned over 55 lakh households (including 11 lakh in Gujarat) into clean power producers.

Securing Strategic Resources, Skill Ecosystems & AI Integration

To ensure India emerges as an Artificial Intelligence and advanced computation superpower, the Prime Minister confirmed that long-term international agreements for critical minerals, rare earths, and uranium are being aggressively forged to power future data infrastructure.

Aligning human capital to this shift, the National Education Policy is pivoting toward hands-on skilling and continuous upskilling. Fulfilling an Independence Day commitment, Prime Minister Modi announced the launch of an institutionalized free competitive exam coaching scheme to relieve financial stress on lower- and middle-class households.

The Prime Minister concluded with an appeal to harness India’s historic demographic dividend through deep skilling in Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and next-generation technologies across agriculture and healthcare, urging unified national dedication to actualize a fully Developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
